The estate

In brief

Château du Périer, created by Count Henri du Périer de Larsan, deputy for the Médoc from 1889 to 1906 and mayor of Soulac, has been listed in the various editions of Bordeaux et ses Vins since the end of the 19th century among the Crus Bourgeois of the commune. This longevity and the consistency of its production were recognised in 1932, at the classification of the Crus Bourgeois of the Médoc.
After a period of neglect, it was taken over by the Saintout family in 1989. The Saintouts already owned Château La Bridane in Saint-Julien de Beychevelle as well as the Domaine de Cartujac in Saint-Laurent du Médoc. They are experienced winegrowers, whose know-how has largely proved itself.
Today, the wines of Château du Périer in the A.O.C. Médoc are regularly cited in specialist guides and rewarded in competitions; they show a fine, deep colour and reveal complex aromas. The estate also vinifies Château Hautesserre. The 2006 vintage saw the birth of a new brand: La Gloire du Paysan. It is intended to be fruity and lightly oaky, convivial and innovative, to appeal to a young and international clientele.
