The Suduiraut estate consists, for the most part, of land that remained until the end of the 18th century in the hands of the old Suduiraut family, and for the rest, of a former possession of M. de Castelnau (Pugneau), which was added to it in the early years of the 19th century. It is located in Sauternes and Preignac, at their junction with Bommes and Fargues. It comprises 200 hectares in a single block, of which about 90 are meadows, woods and tenant houses; 10 are farm buildings, château and outbuildings, and 90 are vines.
Its exceptional position, its extent, its superb ensemble, the quantity and superiority of its produce, and the waters and centuries-old shade of a park designed by Le Nôtre make it one of the most remarkable properties in the Gironde.
Its vineyard has a very ancient reputation. At all times, the wines of château de Suduiraut have been regarded as first great growths. Of a fine straw colour, they stand out for their suave aroma, their mellowness and above all for the breeding of their sap, of an exquisite and renowned finesse.
These qualities are the result of an impeccable choice of grape varieties, of soils essentially suited to white vines and admirably situated, where Sémillon and Sauvignon are judiciously placed, as well as of care as intelligent as it is assiduous in the cultivation of the vines and in vinification.
It goes without saying that the owners spare nothing in this fine vineyard to keep it up to its reputation, and that the most meticulous care is given to its vines and to vinification so that it remains the first.
Château Suduiraut has been owned by AXA Millésimes since 1992.
