Château Romer, located in the commune of Fargues, had already been distinguished by the famous 1855 classification as one of the best crus of the Sauternes region.
This estate, formerly the property of the Comte de la Myre-Mory, was divided in 1881, and M. du Hayot subsequently became owner of the lots allocated to Mlle Geneviève de La Myre-Mory, M. Fernand de La Myre-Mory and the Comtesse de Lur-Saluces.
The vines of Château Romer du Hayot, located on a magnificent gravel-clay rise, are made up of the traditional noble grape varieties: Sémillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, and are worked with the aim of producing a wine of exceptional quality, using methods practised by many generations of winegrowers.
Les Vignobles du Hayot also run Château Guiteronde du Hayot, Château Pebayle du Hayot and Château Andoyse du Hayot in Barsac, as well as Château Pleytegeat, one of the oldest vineyards in the commune of Preignac, a former family property of 10 hectares, Château Mathalin du Hayot in the Graves Supérieures A.O.C. and Château Mayne du Hayot in the commune of Barsac.
