The estate

In brief

Founded in the 18th century, château La Tour Blanche is a 40-hectare estate in the commune of Bommes. On his death in 1907, its last owner, Daniel “Osiris” Iffla, bequeathed it to the French State on condition that a free school of practical viticulture and oenology be created on the site.
Located in the heart of the prestigious Sauternes appellation, the property overlooks Le Ciron, a tributary of the Garonne, which is the origin of the microclimate necessary for the formation of the famous “noble rot”.
The rigorous management of the château, both in the vineyard (sustainable cultivation, traceability, effluent treatment, etc.) and in the cellars (new barrels, temperature control, etc.), perfectly illustrates the harmony found between tradition and modernity, essential to the production of a Premier Cru Classé.
The style of the wines produced is characterised by a perfect balance between concentration and freshness, combined with great finesse and elegance.
For all these reasons, château La Tour Blanche is worthy of its rank as first of the Premiers Crus, awarded to it by the official classification of 1855.
