Grand Conseil du vin de Bordeaux
About
The Grand Conseil (Grand Council of the wine of Bordeaux) is, since 1975, a non-profit association, whose vocation is to represent and promote Bordeaux wines in France and abroad and to serve their brand image. It represents without distinction all the appellations of the Bordeaux vineyard. As such, it unites and confederates:
- the 15 wine brotherhoods of Bordeaux: associations of professionals, representing one or more appellations, their task is to maintain traditions, defend and promote their wine, and communicate their own philosophy;
- the 84 Commanderies de Bordeaux in 30 countries: true embassies of Bordeaux wine, they are composed of wine lovers, and even professionals, who share the same fervor and play the role of spokesperson for all Bordeaux wines in their city or country.
By encouraging the creation of Commanderies throughout the world, with the help of the Bordeaux brotherhoods, the Grand Conseil helps professionals to establish themselves in economically encouraging locations. Based on human relations (visits, receptions, inductions, tastings...), its actions do not constitute a commercial act. However, by trying to attract as many wine lovers as possible, the Grand Conseil du Vin de Bordeaux supports the efforts of the professionals of Gironde. In a more general way, the activities of the Grand Conseil contribute to the promotion of the city of Bordeaux and its region.
