About

Men and women, at the heart of the cooperative commitment

In Nouvelle-Aquitaine, the presence of cooperatives and unions ensures the active maintenance of many family farms. To date, nearly 4,200 winegrowers are grouped within 44 wineries and 7 unions, ensuring a network throughout the region. Globally, the exploited surface represents nearly 40,000 hectares for an average production of about 2 million hectoliters in all segments: AOC, IGP, VSIG*. Our companies represent, in their own sector of activity, an important economic and social weight with, among others, more than 1,400 direct employees.

The wineries remain essential relays for the cooperative winegrower, particularly in the context of monitoring production and quality conditions and in the overall support of his project.

These companies in Nouvelle-Aquitaine have a union tool: the Wine section of the Agricultural Cooperation of Nouvelle-Aquitaine. Our wineries constitute an essential economic and political lever in connection with our regional union and the Vignerons Coopérateurs de France (VCF) network. Our agricultural union's mission is to defend and promote the cooperative model by enhancing its economic and social action.

The Wine section of the Agricultural Cooperation of Nouvelle-Aquitaine guides, stimulates and channels initiatives of all kinds taken at the level of cooperatives and their groupings. As an information center on legal, economic, tax, social and training issues for its members and their employees, it defends the cooperative model in all areas.

It is also, and above all, the necessary link between the cooperative wineries and the regional, national and European professional organizations, as well as their representation before the various government administrations.

In relation to regional production, the cooperative wineries represent more than 30% of the production in volume in 2020. Finally, it is important to note that the cooperative wineries are forward-looking, attentive to societal expectations and involved in agro-ecological transitions which share the same objective: to have a positive impact on the territory, whether environmental, economic or social.
