Direction régionale de l’Alimentation, de l’Agriculture et de la Forêt d’Aquitaine

The Regional Department of Food, Agriculture and Forestry (NDT: in french DRAAF) is the external service of the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries. As such, it is responsible for the application of all agricultural, forestry, rural and agri-food policy measures implemented by the supervisory ministry.
 
The multiple attributions of the DRAAF of Aquitaine can be grouped into blocks of missions that may concern in more than one way the professionals of viticulture and wine. 
 
The responsibilities of the Regional Department of Food, Agriculture and Forestry are set by Decree No. 2010-429 of April 29, 2010 which gives it:

• under the authority of the regional prefect, the powers necessary for the implementation of public policies associated with areas related to agricultural and agri-food chains, freshwater aquaculture, product quality and the non-food valorization of the policy biomass, as well as food policy and forestry policy. It also contributes to the development policy of rural areas and to the policy related to the sustainable use of natural resources. It ensures the steering of the financial function of the deconcentrated services of the Ministry of Agriculture, Agri-Food and Forestry in the region. Since June 10, 2009, the Director General of FranceAgriMer has delegated the resources and services of this public administrative establishment to the regions by agreement with the regional prefect;
• under the direct authority of the Minister of Agriculture, missions concerning the content and organization of educational activities in technical agricultural education, as well as the management of personnel and establishments involved. The regional director is therefore the academic authority. It is also under the direct authority of the Minister and in the name of independence of public statistics that it processes agricultural, forestry, agri-food and agri-environmental economic data.
