In the small village where Gustave Eiffel lived, Dominique Falxa, son of a winegrower, dreamed of one day owning his own vineyard. In 1971, he invested his savings in his first plot and from 1971 to 1975, he worked on the property, buying, planting, pruning and finally harvesting. It was not until 1976 that he was able to move into the small house on the estate and live to the rhythm of the harvest. In 1979, he finally sold his first bottles, and today his two children, Isabelle and Régis, ensure the continuity of his work. After ten years of working together as a family, they took over the 44 hectares that now make up the Château on an exceptional terroir located in the Entre-deux-Mers region, 15 km from Bordeaux. The vineyard is made up of two estates, Château Les Gauthiers in Bonnetan and Château Lalande-Labatut in Sallebœuf, on the right bank of the Garonne between Bordeaux and Libourne. It produces 260,000 bottles of AOC Bordeaux red wine, 20,000 bottles of AOC Bordeaux rosé wine and 17,000 bottles of AOC dry white wine each year. The oldest vines planted on small, well-exposed clay-limestone or clay-gravel hillsides produce 7,000 bottles of red AOC Bordeaux Supérieur wine. Our wines have won gold and silver medals in the most important national (Paris, Bordeaux, Mâcon) and international (Brussels) competitions for many years.
We have been independent winegrowers since 1995 and our sole aim is to produce a quality wine in keeping with tradition while respecting the vineyard with HVE 3 certification since 2019.
