The estate

In brief

The wines produced by the Clos Saint-Vincent estate, in the Saint-Émilion Grand Cru appellation, represent the classic canon of Bordeaux wines: a balancing act that brings together the wine’s cardinal qualities around the expression of fruit and the woody touches of ageing. The estate’s 17 hectares weave the tight weave of a remarkable, homogeneous terroir. A vein of Graves runs through the soil, giving the wine the silky qualities we attribute to its tannins. This singularity of the soil is therefore conducive to the expression of precision that translates into the purity of the wines produced by the estate. Merlot and Cabernet Franc play off each other in the sharp dialogue demanded by the harmonious terroirs that give rise to the delicacy of these expressive wines. Entrusted to Saint-Vincent, patron saint of winegrowers, the vocation of the aptly-named Clos is to produce classic Bordeaux wines. Some of the vines on this estate are over 60 years old, making the selection of parcels all the more important. At the end of 2011, the estate became part of the winegrowing assets of CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of Crédit Agricole. Every effort is made to maximise the potential of this Saint-Émilion grand cru. Clos Saint-Vincent, the estate’s eponymous wine, is the focus of the technical team’s efforts to respect its terroir in the purest Bordeaux tradition. The slow vatting process preserves the fruit aromas necessary for the harmony of wines matured in barrels. All these precautions underline the masterful balance of this wine, whose elegant palate unfolds with notes of red fruit, then black fruit, and finishes with silky tannins.
