The château, an imposing building, was constructed in the 16th century by Amanieu de Labat, jurat of Libourne. It appears on Belleyme’s map, published in 1785, which attests to the presence of vines around the château. Acquired by the Luquot family in 1907, the estate is now run and developed by the fifth generation, who have recently invested heavily in the construction of a new, fully-equipped vat room, the renovation of the cellars and the creation of a reception and tasting area. The acquisition in 2014 of some excellent parcels located a short distance from the château, on a deep gravel hillside on the banks of the Dordogne, will enable us to enrich the structure and complexity of our wines. This potential will be exploited through a careful selection of plots, in order to raise the quality of Château Cruzeau’s first wine to the very highest level.
