The estate

In brief

Château La Tour de Mons dates back to the 13th century. In 1245, it was the stronghold of the Lords of Blanquefort, who owned the estate until 1453. Among its many owners was Pierre de Mons, who gave it the custom of the time when he inherited the estate in 1623. He devoted his life to developing the vineyard. This marked the beginning of the prestigious winegrowing history of Château La Tour de Mons, which was classified as a “bons bourgeois” estate in 1858. Generation after generation of hard work has made it possible to develop the superb terroir of Château La Tour de Mons, made up of Garonne gravel and clay-limestone soils that are particularly well-suited to producing great wines. Today, the vineyard extends over 48 hectares in a single block, a veritable “clos”, located in the northern part of the Margaux appellation, on the banks of the Garonne, alongside the finest Médoc growths. The estate belonged to the descendants of the de Mons family until the end of the 20th century. Since 2012, the château has been managed by CA Grands Crus, a subsidiary of the Crédit Agricole Group. Every effort is made to produce a classic, pure and elegant wine, with the utmost respect for this great Margaux terroir.
