Le Bourdieu was already a major farm in the Valeyrac commune by 1708. The main house was built after 1790 by Philippe Delacourt, the acknowledged Seigneur du Bourdieu, in the architectural style of a manor house of the period. It is flanked by vast cellars that have recently been renovated and fitted out in a functional manner that respects their authenticity. The only witness to an even earlier era is a stone dovecote standing in the middle of the vineyard. Château Le Bourdieu was already very well known in the mid-19th century, as we find it in the 2nd edition of Féret in 1868. Bought by Guy Bailly in 1978, it now enjoys a flattering reputation and regularly wins awards in numerous competitions.
